The non-breaking space
, or hard space, is a special symbol which "binds" together two words so that the combination would not get broken across the lines.
To insert a non-breaking space, put this between the two words:
The soft hyphen
is a special hidden symbol put inside the word to mark the way it can be broken across the lines.
To insert a soft hyphen, put this between the characters:
